Text message alerts: opt-in step

Tide Alerts sends flood and water-level alerts by text message only to paid account holders who opt in. A signed-in account holder opts in from Settings → Notifications by choosing Turn on text messages. That opens the step below, with the phone number they verified on their account. The box starts unchecked, and text alerts stay off until they check it and confirm.

This page shows that step for review. The phone number is an example, and nothing here is saved.

Turn on text message alerts

Alerts will be texted to +1 555-555-0100, the phone number on your account.

When they confirm, we record the date and time, whether they opted in on the website or in the phone app, the exact wording shown (version 2026-10-27), the phone number, and their confirmation that they are at least 18. Texting STOP cancels; HELP replies with help. Turning text messages off in settings, or removing the phone number from the account, also cancels.
